Water Conservation

The Move For Earth community is actively working on sustainable watershed management, monitoring groundwater levels and quality, and training community members on impactful water conservation strategies. This work involves identifying and conducting baseline surveys in water-stressed or drought-prone regions/districts and developing integrated watershed management programs through community participatory engagement and ensuring gender sensitivity in water usage and management.

Some key activities include:

  • Training on Groundwater Monitoring: 100+ women from 12 panchayats in West Bengal and 3 in Jharkhand received training on groundwater data measurement and crop calendar development.
  • Crop water budgeting and conservation structures: The training in monitoring groundwater levels is also facilitating crop water budgeting and setting up of water bulletins at the local government level. Water conservation structures are also being developed to build resilience in times of water stress or drought.
